**Camera Operator (Emergency Deployments)** **Contract Role \| On\-Call \| Wildfire Incident Support \| Travel Required** **About Twisted Kelp** Twisted Kelp builds rugged, field\-deployable communications and situational awareness technology for emergency response, wildfire operations, aviation, and remote environments. We support incident teams with home\-grown systems that improve connectivity, tracking, and operational visibility when it matters most. We are looking for adaptable, calm, and highly reliable **Camera Operator** to support live streaming command briefings during emergency deployments at wildfire incidents and other response operations. **About the Role** This is not a traditional 9\-to\-5 role. This is an **on\-call contract position** for people who want real\-world field experience supporting emergency operations. When an incident occurs, you may be asked to **mobilize within 24 hours** and travel to an incident command post or operational support location near the emergency. Deployments are generally **up to two weeks at a time**, and you should expect to **live camping\-style on\-site for the duration of the assignment**. You will not be placed in direct operational danger, but you will work in fast\-moving, high\-tempo environments that require professionalism, flexibility, and resilience. This is an excellent opportunity for: * Students or recent graduates on summer break * People interested in wildfire, disaster response, or emergency management * Adventurous, mission\-driven individuals who enjoy travel and field work * **Those seeking hands\-on exposure to incident operations, communications, and technology deployment with real\-world impact** **What You’ll Do** Responsibilities will vary depending on the needs of the incident, but may include: * Helping maintain reliable audio/video and communications workflows * Deploying and supporting Twisted Kelp’s field technology in operational environments * Setting up communications, tracking, connectivity, and situational awareness systems * Assisting with troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues in the field * Supporting the live\-streaming of operational and tactical briefings * Coordinating with team leads and incident personnel to ensure systems are functioning properly * Performing general field support tasks as needed in a dynamic incident environment * Representing the company professionally in front of agency personnel, responders, and partners **Who We’re Looking For** The strongest candidates are dependable, resourceful, and comfortable operating in changing conditions. You do not need to be a firefighter, but you should be ready to work professionally, learn quickly, and stay composed under pressure. **No experience is needed. The only requirements are a good attitude, and a willingness to learn and serve the public in times of need.** While we will teach and train you in all skills necessary, ideal candidates may have some combination of: * Experience with livestreaming, AV support, or media operations * Strong technical troubleshooting ability * Learning to work with hardware, radios, networking, video, or field technology * Interest in wildfire response, emergency management, public safety, or incident operations * Ability to work independently with limited supervision * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Willingness to travel on short notice and remain deployed for extended periods * Ability to live and work in rustic or temporary field conditions * Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred **Preferred Backgrounds** We especially encourage applications from people with experience or interest in: * Wildland fire or emergency response environments * Outdoor leadership or expedition work * AV production or livestreaming * Military, EMS, or public safety support * Technical field support * Engineering or operations programs * Gap year, summer break, or seasonal field work **What Makes This Role Unique** This is a chance to do meaningful, real\-world work in support of emergency response.
